The only explanation I can think of is that this shows Emerson's little known affliction with tourrettes, hence his other famous quote:
"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tinycock matters compared to what lies within us."
Maybe.

in a cockboat do you get a coxain , also in a cockboat if the captain of said boad is bulshie does that make him cocksure in a cockboat and if he has an infestation of bugs does that make him cocksure in a cockboat with cockroaches......oh er mrs now behave
